The Boys and Girls Club of Gloucester County provides programs in 5 core areas of development:
TYO Program / Project Vision The Boys & Girls Clubs of Gloucester County were among the first of six locations in New Jersey to be awarded funding from the NJ State Attorney General's Office. This program is open to teens in Gloucester County. Youth involved in this program will be referred by parents, the courts, the Youth Services Commission or any other child-serving agency that sees a child with a need for positive mentoring. With a focus on personal responsibility, personal safety, academic development, career awareness, community service and life skills, youth in the T.Y.O. program will be mentored by adult staff to help them become the best that they can be. Helping Young People Excel: - H.Y.P.E . H.Y.P.E. is a comprehensive academic mentoring program offered through the Boys & Girls Clubs of Gloucester County. The program aims to encourage positive academic and social decisions through academic tutoring and mentoring for children ages 6-12. The initiative focuses on four major components to insure success. These include: Academic Consultation Children receive daily academic tutoring and progress tracking from a Boys & Girls Club staff member. The child will be asked to participate in our National homework help program, POWER HOUR. He/she will receive priority access to the Boys & Girls Club computer labs during program time in order to complete their homework assignments. Staff will be in close contact with the child's teacher to obtain information and materials that will help them to succeed. Personal Mentoring- Each child will be provided with a personal mentor. This Youth Development Professional will provide an outlet for youth to discuss their problems and concerns with a trusted adult. This mentor will help to keep children on the right track Priority Program Access- H.Y.P.E. kids will have priority access to all of our national Boys & Girls Club Programs. These include programs in Character and Leadership, Health & Life Skills, The Arts, Sports and Recreation and Education and Technology. These programs instill positive decision making skills and leadership qualities in youth. Parent Involvement- As a participant in the H.Y.P.E. initiative, parents will be expected to help us to serve their children in a more productive way by being involved in the program. Parents will meet monthly with the H.Y.P.E. Coordinator for a brief overview of their child's progress. This session will keep parents informed and provide an opportunity to address concerns or observations made by staff during the program. The long term goal of the H.Y.P.E. program is to help your child succeed in and out of school. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Gloucester County has the resources to provide a safe academic and recreational environment where our members will obtain the necessary life tools to help them succeed in their communities.
